Jesper Morthorst graduated as a producer from the Super16 Film School in 2006 and holds a BA in Film and Media Studies from the University of Copenhagen.
Jesper works as a producer at SF Studios Production, and has previously worked at Alphaville Pictures Copenhagen (2009-2012)
and Nimbus Film (2003-2008). He has produced a great number of feature films, shorts, documentaries, and since 2010 the Netflix/TV2 TV series RITA.
His films have been in competition at major film festivals such as Berlin, Venice, Toronto, San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary and Rotterdam. He has won the greatest Danish film awards (The Danish Academy Award Robert, the Bodil award, and the Svend award), and he has been nominated for both the Nordic Council Film Prize and European Film Awards as well as “International Producer of the Year” at the TV festival in Monte Carlo. At Gothenburg Film Festival 2017, he won the award of “Nordic Producer of the Year”. Jesper Morthorst was, furthermore, chosen as Denmark’s “Producer on the Move” at the film festival in Cannes in 2011.
Most recently, Jesper has produced Bille August’s feature film SILENT HEART and Gudmundur Gudmundsson’s debut feature HEARTSTONE. SILENT HEART sold 260.000 tickets in the Danish cinemas, has been sold worldwide, and won 4 Bodil-awards, for e.g. Best Film of the Year. HEARTSTONE had its world premiere in the fall of 2016 at the film festivals in Venice and
Toronto, and has been awarded greatly at festivals worldwide and sold to e.g. USA, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Asia, and South America. In 2017, Jesper produces season 2 of NORSKOV, and season 4 of RITA.
Furthermore, Jesper has co-produced international feature films with e.g. Poland, Croatia, Iceland,
